Are You Living In The Fight or Flight Area of Your Life?

person sitting and looking worried

In his book Eat Right For Your Type Dr. Peter J D’amo says:

“The body’s response to stress has been developed and refined over thousands of years. It is a reflex, an aminal instinct, our survival mechanism for dealing with life or death situations. When danger of any kind is sensed, we mobilize our fight or flight response and we either confront what alarming us is or we flee from it, mentally or physically.

If whatever caused the initial stress continues, however, the body’s ability to adapt to the stress becomes exhausted. It shuts down.

Unlike our ancestors who faced intermittent acute stresses, such as the threat from predators or starvation, our highly pressurised fast-paced world imposes chronic prolonged stress. Even though our stress response may be less acute than our ancestors, the fact that it is happening continuously may make the consequences even worse.

Experts generally agree that the stresses of this contemporary society and the resultant diseases of the body, mind and spirit are very much the product of our industrialised culture.

In short, we get overwhelmed by modern technological society. And that very much includes the workers within every tech company on the planet. And it is getting worse with more and more pressure to produce and keep up.

So it stands to reason that if you are eating foods that are going to create inflammatory conditions within your body, on top of the “modern” style of living, then you are going to have a weak, and potentially unhealthy body.

A big part of eating right for your blood type is to get an understanding of what a lectin is and how to avoid the lectins that stick to your particular cells. This is determined by your blood type.

Lectins are a family of proteins that are in most foods, especially vegetables and grains. The action of lectins is that they stick to certain cells within your body and cause an inflammatory response from the body’s immune system.

Lectins are defined as proteins that bind to carbohydrates/sugars. But this is the key. The same features that the lectin uses to defend plants in nature may cause problems during human digestion. The lectins resist being broken down in the gut and tend to stick to different parts of the gut and body and causing problems for the smooth and healthy running of your body.

Dr. Peter in his book is saying that certain foods that your blood type should avoid contain lectins that cause potentially very severe problems to your body.

Simply knowing which foods you should avoid and doing so is a healthy choice to make. You should come to Get Back Health Chiropractic and Wellness Clinic this week and get your spine adjusted and that will realign your nervous system and promote excellent health too.
