During pregnancy, the woman’s body is subject to many changes, related to the development of the baby and hormonal changes for 9 months. The lumbar, pelvis, and legs that usually bear bodyweight also bear the fetus, which grows rapidly in size and weight. The body of the future mother supports all the more stress at the end of the pregnancy linked to relaxin, a pregnancy hormone that allows ligament relaxation in order to promote childbirth.
This is the case, for example, with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen or aspirin, which should never be taken after the 5th month of pregnancy. Taking medication, even without a prescription, or essential plants and oils, must be advised by medical advice beforehand.
Chiropractic care is particularly well indicated in these cases because it acts on joint mobility, reducing pain and thus promoting daily well-being. It makes it possible to fight effectively and naturally against pain, thus making it possible to avoid, for example, the taking of paracetamol. After childbirth, tension and pain may also persist and the chiropractor corrects the dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system.
