Although the body can manufacture many chemicals, a lot of the materials we need must be acquired by eating.
The general term used to describe his material is called Nutrients.
Nutrient( from Latin nutrire, “to feed, nurse, support, preserve,. ” ” to provide nourishment”). Once Nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream they are then transferred to different parts of the body where they are put to many 1000s of tasks.
There are 6 essential types of nutrients that your body needs to get from your diet in order to function properly.
These are Fats, proteins, Carbohydrates, Vitamins, minerals and water. Vitamins, minerals and water are small enough to be absorbed directly into your bloodstream through the lining of your gut. Fats, proteins and carbohydrates need to be broken down chemically into smaller particles which are basically Sugars, Fatty acids and Amino acids.
Water: 65% of the body is made up of water and constantly being lost through your breathing and sweating and it is critical that it is daily replaced.
Proteins: These are the major structural components of all cells.
Minerals: these are vital for building bones, skin, hair and blood cells. They also enhance nerve function.
Vitamins: These are needed to make things in the body. Vitamin C helps to build Collagen. Collagen is a structural protein in our tissues.
Fats: Are a rich source of energy and help in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.
Carbohydrates: are the main energy source for the brain.
So, you need to take a new look at what you eat each day and make sure you are getting a balance of these 6 essential nutrients.
