Your spinal column is made up of 24 vertebrae, the spinal cord inside the spinal column, and the nerves that come out of each level of the spine.
The nervous system is like a computer where the wires come out at the spinal column openings and control the whole body. It’s a two-way flow where stimuli are picked up from the body and the senses and through your nervous system they go to your brain where solutions to maintain and correctly run your body are returned.
Anything you do and anything in your environment is going to influence your nervous system. At Get Back Health Chiropractic and Wellness Clinic we regularly adjust the spine to free up the nervous system which directly assists you in every aspect of your life.
The benefits of a well-adjusted spine:
- Aids digestion.
- Improves concentration.
- Promotes better movement.
- Improves sleep.
- Reduces stress.
- Increases awareness and confidence.
The body’s two systems:
We have two systems in our body: the Sympathetic and the Parasympathetic system. The sympathetic system deals with stress and is your fight or flight or freeze mechanism. Your parasympathetic system is everything you do at rest such as digestion.
Most of us are constantly stuck in the sympathetic fight or flight sequence and as a result we can get very tired easily. You can end up with burnout and this leads to a breakdown of the ability of your nervous system and your Endocrine (chemicals that run your body) system along with your immune system to function.
Tips:
- Give yourself a complete break from work including housework at least once a week.
- Exercise daily, even a walk for 15 mins will help.
- Try to listen to the other person even if you don’t like what you are hearing and just give them, an acknowledgement. This doesn’t mean you have to agree with them
- Come to Get Back Health Chiropractic and Wellness Clinic this week and get your spine adjusted and see the difference it will make to your wellbeing.
