- What is the right amount of humour to inject into your personal life and into your work?
- What are your frustrations when you don’t get what you want?
- Should you make things a little more enjoyable?
- If you hold up a mirror to yourself, what do you really see?
To the world, to your family, to your business associates, and indeed to yourself, (since we very often fool ourselves into what’s really going on), to these people we oftentimes have and give a certain acceptable response. But underneath what is the real you trying to achieve?
We are all trying to survive as best we can and our real feelings can be in the negative realm and so we disguise them, hide them from ourselves and others.
Thoughts like, “I can’t really communicate,” “I hate having to talk to others,” “I’m shy,” “I’m not forceful enough at work,” “I really feel angry, frustrated, and antagonistic most of the time…”
I personally have had all of the above feelings for years. We imprison ourselves with our own estimation of who we are. This together with the odd negative communication from others here and there, from those who wish to control us or keep us weak, can really send us spinning sometimes.
So I would suggest that you write down 5 things that you are doing that you consider good, satisfying and productive to you and others. They can be small or large things. write them down now and take a look at them and put a smile on your face.
So when the opportunity arises, you should inject humor into your day. This should not be gossip or humor at someone else’s expense. Injecting humor helps with:
- lightening the mood
- reduce stress
- helps with faster interpersonal bonding
- feeling greater sense of belonging at work
- closer relationships
- helps break down inhibitions
How many times do you laugh per day? The average 4 year old laughs about 300 times a day. The average 40 year old laughs about 3 times a day.
Laughter triggers the release of endorphins. Endorphins are the body’s natural pain relievers, and they can boost your mood too. These chemicals are naturally produced by the body during pleasurable actions such as exercise, sex, and laughter. These chemicals are also released when we get pain and stress.
So laughter is a very good positive way to release these chemicals and put you in a positive frame of mind and indeed for those around you too. Give humor a go and do it with yourself first thing in the morning. Find something to laugh about and observe the positive change that occurs inside you, then take on the world.
Needless to say you need an efficient nervous system to achieve a positive outlook too. So go to getbackhealth.ie and see where you can come for regular maintenance of your spine.
