The Five Elements of Chinese medicine

Female doctor appply accupressureAcupressure is a Fingertip Chinese medicine technique using pressure points along the energy pathways in the body to encourage the free flow of energy.

The five elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.

Let’s have a look at the Fire element.

  1. The Fire element is coloured Red and is the Heart and the small Intestine in the body.
  2. The Heart governs your emotional wellbeing or lack of it, blood circulation and sweat.
  3. The small Intestine is responsible for assisting us in the ability to choose wisely, (what we absorb and take in, relationships, thoughts, items choices), and what we discard and separate from. In physical terms it helps to separate the pure (nutrients) from the impure in relation to food intake.
  4. The nutrients move through the body via the blood, so it is important that we don’t have blockages in the heart element. The heart element governs emotional wellbeing and its opposite, hate, anger, revenge, antagonism.
I have personally been stuck in these negative emotions for years which had a very bad effect on my heart and health. I have changed my ways to good effect, just in time I might say.

Tips:

  1. If negative thoughts come into your mind don’t let them fester, don’t feed them. Let them in and let them out. Stay focused on the present.
  2. Look at the food you buy in the supermarket, smell the veg and fruit to make sure it is fresh, and don’t buy processed food so much. You are what you eat. Have you ever noticed that we usually go for sweet and processed foods when we are upset? Try to eat fruit instead.
  3. Say something kind to someone today and see how the ripple of ethics and manners expands.
  4. Come to this week and get your spine adjusted so you can get the best from your nervous system and body.
